Girl Power: Laurel School Raises Up the Next Generation of Leaders
Who is the Laurel girl? She is brave. She is compassionate. She strives to use her gifts and talents to better the world.
Capturing the Laurel girl in her element is to see her true colors - a confident young woman embracing her inquisitive and adventurous spirit. “She is intelligent and creative and strong,” says Kate Floyd, Director of Marketing and Laurel graduate, Class of 1996. “The Laurel Girl is ambitious. She takes risks and welcomes challenges. She also develops friendships that will last a lifetime.”
On a mission to search out that spirit, Jeff Downie spent an entire day at Laurel School seeking out moments to help tell the story. “He wanted to capture a kind of ‘day-in- the-life’ and you wouldn’t have even noticed he was in the room,” Kate says. “Jeff visited a kindergarten PE class and there he was, lying on his belly, really getting in there to get the shot – capturing these moments we had never got before. He totally embraces the environment.”
At Downie Photography, we have the privilege of capturing the uniquenessof each client and taking a deeper look – diving into its depth, if you will –to uncover the truly extraordinary. It’s our distinct pleasure to showcasethese stories with you.
